The CHS completes the packaging of the channel between San Cayetano and the Tajo-Segura (22/09/2009)

The mayor of Torre Pacheco, Daniel García Madrid, has visited this morning with President of the Hydrographic Confederation of Segura (CHS), José Salvador Fuentes Zorita, the renovation and channeling the stretch of river located between the canal of the Tajo -Segura and the Rambla de San Cayetano, in the end pachequero.

Work began in late May and are nearing completion.

This project, implemented by the Ministry of Environment and Rural and Marine Affairs (MARM) through CHS, has led the company out Castillejos Works Company, Inc., with a budget of 253,610 euros.

This work, part of the State Special Fund for Promoting the Economy and Employment, solves the problems caused in this area due to lack of drainage of water when rain falls of some importance to the improvement of existing drainage in the village San Cayetano, at the request of the City of Torre-Pacheco.

In this hamlet is this boulevard, recently channeled, in which cross different channels of varying importance.

The works have consisted of general clearing and demolition of the existing masonry channel that interferes with, the general conditioning, running the concrete floor slopes with wire mesh and stone pitching, and access, reinstatement of services, and all additional works.

The CHS has also proceeded to repair the runway clearing the land itself, and the protection of the slopes with stone pitching and the demolition of an existing masonry, over which runs a regional road in order to replace another hydraulic capability, equipped with stone pitching fins.

The project area is divided into two sections: the first section runs from the shipping channel-channel Campo de Cartagena to its intersection with the street and the second tranche from its intersection with the street to its mouth on the Rambla de San Cayetano .

In the first stage, we retained the existing channel width, while in the second leg because you have a narrowing, the width has been increased, coinciding with the stretch and executed.

To cause minimal visual impact and to continue the existing stretch of river, has executed a trapezoidal concrete hearth and slopes mesh stone pitching.

The banks now have a coating thickness of 40 cm., The slab width of 5.00 meters and draft of 1.73 meters (measured at the edge of the section).

As step Avileses Road, which currently passes through three concrete pipes of 800 mm in diameter, has been replaced by a drainage works two precast concrete frames 2 meters wide and 1.5 meters high in which its lateral fins resulting pitching of stone, similar to crossing the channel upstream of the transfer.

For reasons of better maintenance and conservation of the work by the way, was chosen as the type of work in front of the tube part concrete.

Besides the works described above, are included in the proposed additional works required to refund and replacing affected areas improved pavements, sidewalks, pipes, rails, barriers and easements in general have been damaged by reason of the works.
