He noted that since 2005, 75 percent of the Fund for the Reception and Integration of Immigrants is provided by the State to the Autonomous Communities in proportion to the representation of the immigrant group in each of them.

He also stressed that in the last four years the contribution of the Government of Spain to the integration of immigrants has increased by 3000 per cent, from the region to collect 400,000 euros for this purpose in 2004 to 12.3 million euros in 2008.

Considers that strengthening public services to this new reality, especially education, "because we must not forget that the deterioration of public services is the most effective nutrient gestation phenomena of xenophobia," he said.

For the Government Delegate is essential to develop programs that enhance intercultural harmony, valuing diversity and promoting values of tolerance and thus take preventive action against marginalization.

In this regard, he acknowledged the great work being done by NGOs and trade unions in the Region of Murcia and in particular the components of the Immigration Forum.

He concluded by saying that "it is a priority from all areas of society to promote the principle of citizenship, which implies the recognition of full civic, social, economic, cultural and political integration of immigrant citizens."
