Torre-Pacheco is the first municipality in the Region of Murcia, which is recognized by a Child Friendly City awarded by Unicef (20/10/2014)

Torre-Pacheco is the first municipality in the Region of Murcia you get the distinctive 'Child Friendly City'.

The jury awarded these awards are what UNICEF Spanish Committee, the Ministry of Health, Social Services and Equality, the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces and the Graduate Institute of Needs and Rights of Children and Adolescents.

During the month of September, a technical committee visited different localities to assess its policy in relation to children and adolescents.

To become a Child Friendly City is required to promote children's participation in the space reserved for it, support the creation of municipal plans of children, promote policies for the benefit of children and promote networking among members of the initiative .

The Seal of Recognition CAI and distinctions of Practice will be presented at a ceremony to be held on 7 November in Guadalajara, a Child Friendly City from the last edition of the awards in 2012.

With the Child Friendly Cities program, UNICEF Spain aims to foster and promote the implementation of the Convention on the Rights of the Child in the field of Local Government and promote networking between them.

The priority objectives of the Child Friendly Cities are:

1 Support the creation of plans Municipal Children.

2 Promote citizen participation of all children in the municipal public life, especially through Childhood Councils set up for that purpose.

The Seal of Recognition CAI is an instrument of certification by UNICEF and its partners in Spain Program municipal policies for children and adolescents.

Every two years, Friendly Cities Program for Children recognizes municipalities for their outstanding commitment to the development and implementation of the Convention on the Rights of the Child at the local level.
