The Civil Guard detained a driver for driving at 226 km / h (15/02/2014)

He has been arrested on suspicion of crimes against road safety

Exceeded by more than 100 km / h the speed limit

The Guardia Civil of the Region of Murcia, one of the devices speed control set at the height of Torre Pacheco, has detected a high-end vehicle when traveling at nearly twice the maximum speed set in this way, by what has stopped its driver suspected of crime against road safety.

The incident took place at dawn yesterday, the 14th, in one of the devices check speed control via mobile cinemometer (instrument for measuring the speed of vehicles in circulation) established in coordination with the Provincial Traffic Murcia when Civil Guard Sector Traffic Murcia detected a high-end vehicle traveling at 226 km / h in the A-30 (Albacete-Cartagena), up to the town of Torre Pacheco, in a limited stretch 120 km / h.

After stopping the vehicle, officers identified the driver, a man of 39, and proceeded to his arrest and remand in custody on suspicion of dangerous driving offense, driving a motor vehicle at a speed exceeding 80 km / h on the motorway maximum allowable generically.

This type of crime are contained in Article 379 of the Penal Code and can be punished with imprisonment alternatively 3 to 6 months, a fine of 6 to 12 months, or work on behalf of the community of 31 to 90 days, and in any case, with deprivation of the right to drive motor vehicles and motorcycles for over 1 and up to 4 years time.

Establishing speed controls by the Civil Guard responds to the requirements of the Road Safety Strategy adopted by the DGT for the decade 2011-2020, as a priority aimed at reducing accidents on our roads, given that speeding on the one hand, significantly increase the risk of accidents and, secondly, are factors that directly affect the mortality and severity of injuries.

In this sense, the Meritorious without prejudice to specific campaigns speed control established annually by the Directorate General of Traffic, recalls that the activity rate control takes place 24 hours a day, especially in those sections and road points for its special features have implicit risk of accidents, appealing to drivers to be aware of the importance of respecting the speed limits established in order to improve their own safety and that of general circulation.

A few weeks ago, namely on December 5, 2013, in the development of special operation DGT "Immaculate Constitution-2013", the Civil Guard Traffic Murcia stopped and brought to justice another driver also circulated through the A-30, in this case by the West Round Capital, to 205 km / h, when a specific limitation of 90 km / h there.

The detainee and the proceedings have been brought before the Court of Instruction No. 1 of Cartagena (Murcia).
