The City of Torre-Pacheco selected to participate in a project that promotes reconciliation and responsibility (27/11/2013)

This morning, the general director of Equal Opportunity and the Institute for Women, Carmen Plaza, and the Norwegian Ambassador to Spain, Christopher Johan Vibe, presented the Spanish-Norwegian project "Balance-Balance: by a responsible reconciliation" promoted by the Institute for Women and will be developed in 17 municipalities, 15 Spanish and 2 Norwegians, over the next three years.

Made in the context of the cooperation between the European Economic Area (EEA) and the Government of Spain, the Balance Project has the support of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP) and the Norwegian Association of Local Authorities and Regional (KS) and its main purpose is to encourage reconciliation and responsibility at the local level.

In addition the City of Torre-Pacheco have selected the following municipalities: Madrid, Majadahonda (Madrid), Almería, Cádiz, Jaén, Candeleda (Ávila), Cambre (A Coruña), Verin (Orense) Vilagarcia de Arosa (Pontevedra) Barakaldo (Vizcaya), Mérida (Badajoz), Pedro Muñoz (Ciudad Real), Cabezon de la Sal (Cantabria) and Ibiza (Baleares).

By Norway will participate municipalities and Hamar Kristiansand.

To achieve reconciliation plans, participating locations will have technical assistance that will give them support during the three phases of the program: assessment of the situation, reconciliation plan development with a comprehensive perspective and implementation and follow-up.

The project, which takes into account past experience, offers a number of innovations such as the involvement of local social partners (unions and employers) and educational and civic organizations.

The possibility is also contemplated, as well as technical support, provide financial support for the measures of interest or innovative and considered relevant as exportable good practices to other areas, such as kindergartens building measures in industrial estates, settlements for the regulation and harmonization of schedules, time banks or training activities and awareness reconciliation and responsibility.

Also new will be the establishment of a network for exchange of information and experiences between municipalities and participating agents to favor the development and implementation of plans for reconciliation.

Similarly, to promote social awareness, is available to all local authorities responsibility campaign, "It's up, it behooves us," the Directorate General for Equal Opportunities is conducted in collaboration with the Red Cross.

Reconciliation plans affect a population of 4,076,392 inhabitants, the 8.6% of the national total and multiply by five the impact of the previous stage.

The objective criteria for the selection of the participating localities have taken into account issues such as population, territorial distribution, the quality of the submitted technical project and the resources available to carry it out.
