Country Mayors Criptana, Santiago Lucas-Torres, and Torre-Pacheco, Daniel García, have signed the twinning of the two towns, known for its famous windmills, which were economic engine in the past and are now the emblems of their tourism sectors, each year attracting thousands of visitors.
This twinning is the result of the already held by the Associations of both peoples mills in 2005, chaired by Lola Madrid and Antonio Pagan, and now subscribe to the councils "for all that unites us with a clear aim of exchanging experiences and projects, to establish cultural, social and tourism, and emerging new business relationships, to the benefit of the inhabitants of both municipalities, "said Santiago Lucas-Torres.
Criptanense Mayor said that "the inhabitants of the two peoples share a common past", citing that "developed the greatest engineering works of the time, the windmills, to build a better future for his people."

The City Council gave the Criptana Golf Torre-Pacheco a music album recorded by the Philharmonic Beethoven, wines, cheeses, oils, sweets, Titos and flour of the municipality, all in a wicker basket also made by hand, while Torre Pacheco gave a painting by the Association of painters with a windmill as a protagonist.
