The Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Environment shows for the first time the most outstanding medieval pieces found in 2010 in the site of Casa Fontes de Torre Pacheco.
There are ten pieces that will be exhibited in two cabinets as 'The piece of the month' of the Archaeological Museum of Murcia.
The general director of Cultural Goods, Juan Antonio Lorca, said that "with the initiative of 'the piece of the month' we report findings made in excavations in various municipalities in the Region of Murcia that are very little known."
In addition, he said that this initiative is accompanied by a conference in which the piece is put into context in a scientific and informative way.
Regarding the Casa Fontes deposit, Federico Fuentes Miralles will reveal the fruits of this excavation, very little known, and that has Roman, medieval and modern levels of occupation.
The archaeological intervention was in 2010 and in the works of Casa Fontes medieval remains appeared very well preserved, in some cases complete, in a first level of excavation.
Below this level they found other Roman remains such as paintings and ceramics.
In addition, the excavation found remains of mining and metallurgy and what could be a Roman military camp.
The first showcase where the pieces are exhibited has two large jars 50 centimeters high, painted and of late medieval origin.
The second one gathers a frying pan, two flasks (kind of narrow neck bottles);
an ataifor (bowl of type font also low medieval);
and two jugs, one of them with green enamel, typical color of medieval age called dry rope.
