Agriculture will tender in the next few days the drafting of the storm tank project in the vicinity of the Torre Pacheco WWTP (23/11/2016)

The Ministry of Water, Agriculture and Environment, will tender in the next few days the drafting work on the construction of a storm tank in the vicinity of the Wastewater Treatment Station (EDAR) in Torre Pacheco.

The director general of the water, Andrés Martínez, indicated that with the construction of the storm tank "it will be avoided that, at specific times like those of these days, rainwater is poured into the Albujón rambla."

This infrastructure will allow to regulate the volume of water that is derived to the WWTP to avoid collapse and contribute to a correct functioning of the treatment plant.

This action is part of the II Plan of Sanitation and purification of the Region of Murcia and will allow that in periods of rainfall all the waters that are diverted by the spillway are collected.

Storm tanks or rolling tanks are part of sustainable urban drainage techniques in sewage systems.

These structures are used to regulate the flows circulating through the network during the rainy season, and subsequently to evacuate them in a controlled manner.

Rainwater tanks have been designed with the aim of reducing pollution to the receiving environment and reduce the risk of downstream flooding or rolling of surplus flows.
