The mayor of Torre Pacheco, Antonio León Garre, accompanied by members of the Local Corporation and Municipal Technicians, have checked the ground where a Storm Tank will be built, after signing the Preliminary Act of Occupation of part of the land, since the The rest that make up the plot to be transferred to the General Water Directorate had already been acquired a few months ago by the Town Hall.As reported by the first mayor, the City Council gives 25,462 m2 of land to the Autonomous Community, together with the Torre Pacheco Treatment Plant, for the construction of this lamination reservoir that can store up to 66,000 m3 of rainwater, thereby preventing its discharge to the Rambla de El Albujón and this volume of water can be treated and reused for agricultural irrigation, with the work already being awarded for an amount of 2.5 million euros.During the period of torrential rains, the storm tank will reduce the entry of rainwater into the Mar Menor, a much-needed action, as Antonio León has pointed out, and whose construction is scheduled to begin in the coming weeks.
The municipal commitment to availability of land is completed with this expropriation after the rest of the administrative procedures carried out jointly by the City Council and the Ministry of Water and Agriculture.
