Tito Quintio Crispino Funeral Inscription (15/07/2020)

The mayor of Torre Pacheco, Antonio León, accompanied by the councilor for Culture, Raúl Lledó has presented today, the Funeral Inscription of Tito Quintio Crispino from Roman times, exhibited at the Torre Pacheco City Council and which has had the exhibition by Federico Fuentes, archaeologist and researcher of the funeral inscription, together with Rafael González.The plaque served as an ornamental motif in the side garden of the Nuestra Señora del Rosario church in Torre Pacheco, located in this place, approximately since 2000, when the conditioning works were carried out around the church.The inscription recorded in a 44x60x24 micritic limestone is in good condition and will remain on display at the Torre Pacheco Town Hall until September, with the possibility of visiting it in the morning.Federico Fuentes has reported that the funeral inscription in which the character Tito Quintio Crispino appears, "which has a very interesting name since it could be related to one of the family branches of the old and well-known gens Quinctia, one of whose most representative representatives important was Tito Quinctio Flaminio, the winner of Cinoscéfalos ".The mayor of Torre Pacheco, Antonio León, has valued this plaque for its historical importance and great interest, noting that we are facing the first inscription from the Roman period found and documented in the municipality of Torre Pacheco, one more find of Roman chronology, that joins those already existing in the municipality of Torre Pacheco.
