The Civil Guard of the Region of Murcia carried out the operation 'Terrier' in Torre Pacheco, an investigation framed in the 'Police response plan to retail trafficking and drug use in areas, places and entertainment venues', which has resulted in the arrest of a young man, with a history of similar crimes, as an alleged perpetrator of a drug trafficking crime.

The Benemérita has dismantled a retail drug point of sale in Torre Pacheco, where it has seized 32 acorns of hashish and 160 euros in fractional bills.

The investigation began when the Civil Guard was on the trail of an alleged distributor of narcotic substances that, despite finding us in a national state of alarm, could be providing drugs to its 'clients' effectively.

Due to the temporary closure of entertainment venues, applied by the Government to contain the spread of COVID-19, the investigators joined forces to find out how the suspect carried out drug transactions while allegedly keeping the measures of home confinement.

Citizen collaboration

Thanks to citizen collaboration, the civil guards specialized in Citizen Security Prevention were obtaining indications that allowed determining the radius of action of the suspect, for which reason they established a series of discreet surveillance devices in different streets of the municipality.

Recently, these police devices have allowed his identification when he was next to some urban waste containers, without apparent justification and wandering imprecisely, which led investigators to suspect his movements.

Civil guards carried out an exhaustive survey of the surroundings, which allowed them to locate 32 hash acorns, perfectly packaged and ready for sale, which were hidden in the holes in the wall of an unbuilt lot.

In addition, the individual was carrying 160 euros in banknotes and fractional coins at that moment, which made it presume that he could have carried out the sale of narcotic substances during that day.

For all these reasons, the 27-year-old Moroccan male suspect, a resident of Torre Pacheco and with a history of similar crimes, was arrested as an alleged perpetrator against public health, for drug trafficking.

He justified his presence on the street with a loaf of bread

According to the investigation, the now detainee had devised the way to deliver the psychotropic drugs to habitual consumers in Torre Pacheco and other neighboring towns.

Apparently, he had selected strategic points to hide the drug, places where the presence of people did not raise suspicions, such as the vicinity of urban waste containers.

He went to those hiding places to ensure payment, while hiding carrying a loaf of bread to justify his presence on the street.

Despite the fact that, within the framework of the measures defined in the current state of alarm, the leisure venues remain temporarily closed, which implies a zero influx of people in their surroundings;

As well as the fact that home departures must be justified under criteria of necessity, the Benemérita has completed the operation 'TERRIER' with the dismantling of a retail drug point of sale, established in Torre Pacheco, where 32 hash acorn have been seized .

The arrested, the drug seized, the money seized and the proceedings investigated have been made available to the Investigating Court of San Javier (Murcia).
