Torre Pacheco situation in the face of the COVID-19 crisis (31/03/2020)

On Tuesday morning, March 31, the mayor of Torre Pacheco, Antonio León, along with the councilor for Emergencies and Civil Protection, Juan Salvador Sánchez, and the coordinator Antonio Sanmartín, the Commissar-Chief of the Local Police, José Mercader and the Inspector, Antonio Méndez, the Medical Coordinator, Maribel Martínez and the Head of Nursing, Maribel Patino, appeared to inform the public of the current situation in which the municipality finds itself.

The mayor, wanted to thank once again, the work of the Local Police, Civil Protection, Civil Guard and the Health Services that day by day, are acting before an unknown disease, in the State of Alarm that we are currently;

highlighting the collaboration of all institutions and administrations so that this health alert ends as soon as possible.

León has recognized the work of the Civil Protection volunteers who carry out work to help those most in need;

as well as the Local Police that, in addition to looking after the neighbors, work to ensure that the security measures are complied with by the citizens, collaborating with the Civil Guard.

In addition, he has thanked on behalf of the residents of the municipality, the work and dedication of our health professionals.

For his part, Juan Salvador Sánchez, has highlighted the great work carried out by Civil Protection volunteers, greatly thanking them for their work and dedication from the moment this situation began, making themselves available to the Security Table, collaborating with Social Services, carrying out services closest to vulnerable people, such as food delivery;

They also collaborate, with the Arcos pharmacy service distributing medication, with the Health Workers collaborating in emergency situations, in short, during the State of Alarm, the Civil Protection volunteers are at the service of the citizenry.

The Commissar-Chief of the Local Police, José Mercader, wanted to thank companies in Torre Pacheco and institutions that, since the State of Alarm was decreed, have made available to the Local Police the means necessary to contain and carry out the work of the troops, companies that have donated masks, gloves and material that has greatly facilitated the work of the Police.

In addition, he noted that the security measures that are imposed by the State of Alarm are quite clear, and stated that the population is heeding the recommendations, with the exception of some cases.

Mercader has reported that during this period, 200 complaints have been filed against people who have not complied with the restriction measures and some 300 controls have been carried out, in which 1,600 people and 1,400 vehicles have been identified.

From the coordination of the East Ernest Lluch Health Center, they reported cases of coronavirus in the municipality and commented that they have changed the way of attending to patients, remembering that the health center remains open but that they only go in essential cases, and if necessary they can make any queries via telephone or telematics.

Maribel Patino, has reported on the work that has been carried out since the start of the pandemic at the Health Center, monitoring over 500 cases by telephone, including possible cases and contacts of these cases, of which there are 6 hospital admissions, fortunately none in ICU.

He also wanted to thank the understanding of our people, because in the last days the way of working has been totally changed, for which he has wanted to thank the citizens on behalf of all professionals for their understanding, reiterating the dedication of the health professionals who are to attend to the neighbors in what they need.

Maribel Martínez, has highlighted the enormous work that is being done from the health center, modifying care, adapting to this new situation, transmitting a message of tranquility to the population and remembering that they must stay at home, to prevent this contact from continuing. going forward.

Emphasizing that it is a very unknown disease, and with a very large contagion, so we must stay home to avoid infections, and take appropriate measures.

To conclude, he thanked all the services that are collaborating with the health teams, such as the Local Police, the Civil Guard, Civil Protection, and the Torre Pacheco City Council, reminding the public that "we are going to achieve it among all".
