The Mayor, conveyed the great pride that it means for Torre Pacheco that Juan Alcaraz accepted to be the Pregonero, especially and taking into account his current health situation, and pointing out that he will undoubtedly delight us with a great and emotional Cry, full of anecdotes , in some parties that will be marked by the adverse circumstances that our municipality has gone through recently, due to heavy rains.

Juan Alcaraz, originally from the Murcian district of La Ñora, arrived in Torre Pacheco in the early sixties to work as a teacher, and held the position of Mayor at the stage of the transition from 1971 to 1976, years where they became known internationally the Melon Festivities, which during that time were held at the end of August.
