The City Council acts against the tiger mosquito and asks for citizen collaboration to end the plague (03/10/2019)

As a result of the heavy rains that fall throughout the Region of Murcia, specifically in the area of Torre-Pacheco, water pools in residential areas and private gardens are abundant, an ideal site for mosquito proliferation. Special case of the tiger mosquito, that these small clusters of water recently caused by DANA in the pots, gutters or buckets, are very prone to egg sludge.

Citizens are recommended to check their homes and dry out the water clusters that may have occurred to prevent the proliferation of mosquitoes, as well as to monitor other major accumulations of water in public areas and how much incident the citizen observes by calling 968 57 71 08, entering www.lineaverdetorrepacheco .com or the App green line.

In the case of homes, it is also advisable to cover tightly the containers that cannot be emptied against all those that are outdoors to avoid accumulation in the next rains, thus keeping the pools clean and properly chlorinated.

The company that awarded the Mosquito Tigre Prevention and Control Service in the Municipality of Torre-Pacheco, was already carrying out that mission, but it is true that, having flooded unusual areas, other unforeseen sources may be generated.

That is why both municipal staff and company personnel hired for urban mosquito control treatments are working throughout the municipality and especially where there could still be standing water.

The City Council is prioritizing larvicidal treatments to prevent mosquito hatching and it is planned to continue with adulticide treatments in areas where abnormal levels of adult mosquitoes are detected.

The Councilor for the Environment, José Vera, explained that "during these weeks information leaflets will be distributed at selected points and an information campaign will continue to raise awareness of the measures to be taken to end the plague, which affects the entire Region from Murcia and especially to the areas most affected by the floods.
