The Government Team of the City of Torre Pacheco will transfer to the Ordinary Plenary next Thursday a budget modification of € 295,000 for the establishment of emergency help lines for those affected by DANA.

The money will come out of the Contingency Fund of the municipal budget, reserved for the attention of emergencies and catastrophe situations such as that occurred a week ago in the municipality.

The purpose of the modification is to urgently establish direct help lines for people who have suffered serious damage to their home, basic appliances, or who have had to leave their homes provisionally.

The aid also aims and, as a priority, to assist those people who do not have insurance and are therefore in a situation of special vulnerability.

According to Carlos López, Councilor for Finance, from the Local Development Department, through the Local Office of those Affected by Floods, more than 500 people have been treated in the last week, of which approximately 25% do not have insurance policy in your home.

The first step to be taken on Thursday for the granting of local aid is the budgetary allocation of these items, said López, who has also indicated that "in the coming weeks the regulatory bases of these grants will be specified, with the objective to make them compatible with the rest of the aid of the Government of Spain, waiting for the Regional Government to establish a specific line, something that has not happened until today, and seems incomprehensible to us. "

"From the City Council we are involved with those affected, all the councils are working to restore normality to the municipality," said López, who also said that "the economic cost of repairs and reconstruction exceeds the worst forecasts, which will have an important economic impact on the budget execution of the legislature. "

The Ordinary Plenary where the approval of the budget modification will be discussed will take place next Thursday, September 26 at 7:00 p.m. at the Town Hall.
