Torre Pacheco hosts a series of shorts against gender violence, organized by the Council of Equality of the City of Torre Pacheco, with the collaboration of the State Pact against gender violence and Short Spain.
The Cycle of shorts is included in the Campaign of Awareness and Prevention of any form of Violence against Women, Torre Pacheco City Council, through the Department of Equality.
Councilor for Equality, Veronica Martinez has reported that "the main objective of this campaign is to inform, educate and raise public awareness about gender violence, child abuse, equality, inequality, diversity and other issues that affect us all directly "noting that" the activity consists of the broadcast of a program of Cortos, in open spaces of the municipality of Torre Pacheco, starting next Tuesday, June 25, in the Plaza de la Iglesia de Roldán, continuing on Wednesday, 26 in the Park of the Pines, in Dolores de Pacheco, on Tuesday, July 2, in the Plaza Parroco Andrés Cánovas de Balsicas, and ending, on Wednesday, July 3, in the Plaza Mayor Pedro Jiménez de Torre Pacheco, the projection will be 10 o'clock at night, with free admission, in open places, where all the neighbors can participate ".
These actions come to complete the various programs undertaken by the Department of Equality and aim to eradicate gender violence.
The financing of this short film program is part of the State Pact on Gender Violence, signed by the State, in order to promote policies for the eradication of violence against women.
Martinez recalled that since there are official data, have been counted since 2003 to date, 1,000 women killed by gender violence, and specifically in what we have in 2019, 25 women, one of them from Torre Pacheco.
