The General Director of the European Union, External Action and Cooperation of the Autonomous Region of Murcia, Manuel Pleguezuelo Alonso, and the Mayor of Torre Pacheco, Antonio León Garre, accompanied by members of the Municipal Corporation the director of CRA Entretierras, Fulgencio Garijo, professors of the center and technicians of the company Coglobal, visited the school of El Jimenado, to know first-hand the pilot project of citizen participation and education for development "Objective Sustainability".
This project, developed by the social entity Coglobal, and co-financed with regard to the Region of Murcia, by the DG of the European Union, External Action and Cooperation, and by the European Commission;
promotes training and empowerment of the smallest citizens, making them active participants in a campaign to disseminate and raise awareness of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
For this, the project includes a methodology adapted to the capacities and level of maturity of children, providing them with the information and tools necessary for effective participation.
In the Region it is carried out in two educational centers;
In the CEIP Our Lady of Fatima in Molina de Segura and in the school of El Jimenado, where eight sessions will be held, last Friday, February 15 took place the first and the eighth session will be held in the consistory with schoolchildren and municipal representatives.
During the day of last Friday, the 6th grade students have deepened in the five SDGs that will be addressed throughout the course: Poverty zero;
Fight against hunger;
Health & Wellness;
Gender equality;
Action for the weather.
One of these topics will be chosen by the participants themselves in the face of the informative campaign that they themselves will play at the end of the project.
