The new Hermitage of Los Olmos will be finished at the end of the year (22/05/2018)

The mayor of Torre Pacheco, Antonio León and the vicar of the Mar Menor Area, David Robles have visited the works of the new Hermitage of Los Olmos;

during the visit they were accompanied by the architect, Felipe García, the constructor of the work Miguel Madrid, as well as the technical architect, José Miguel Méndez, the Councilor for Services and Public Road, Mari Carmen Guillén, and the town planning councilor, Alberto Galindo

David Robles, recalled that the building where the church was located was over 40 years old, and needed to reform or build a new one, the best solution being the construction of a new building.

The vicar pointed out that one of the great problems of a construction of this size is financing, thanking the work of the local residents to raise funds, and requesting the support of individuals and / or companies that want to help the construction of This Hermitage.

The vicar has taken the opportunity to make an appeal to the residents of Torre Pacheco, or anyone who wants to feel involved in the construction of the Hermitage, to collaborate with this project, reiterating that the great challenge is funding, noting that the budget final is not completely finished and that revolves around 300,000 euros, adding that it is planned that the new Hermitage of Los Olmos is finished by the end of the year.

A novel construction, as mentioned by José Miguel Méndez, rigger, who has new materials and adapted to new technologies, led lighting, wireless loudspeaker, with a hidden installation, among others, highlighting that it will be a church with a novelty that will replace to the old building, which has the same dimensions as the previous Hermitage, about 220 square meters, approximately, for a capacity of about 145 people, as pointed out by Felipe García, architect.

Adding that the building is composed of three main volumes, a tower with 13 meters in height, which houses a warehouse, the main nave that is the element where the Eucharist is celebrated, and the sacristy, highlighting the continuity of these three elements in the entirety of the project.

One of the main factors, García added, was that the square would be part of the Ermita's own project, since it is conceived from a vertebral axis that links the square as a point of reference and ends at the altar.

It is very important that the square is part of the project since the capacity is limited and in this way the neighbors can be in the square and be part of the celebration, pointed out, Garcia.

The mayor highlighted the historical fact that the construction of this church in the municipality of Torre Pacheco, referring to the quality of the building, a building product of a contest of architectural ideas, in which the best solution for the use and location, likewise has reiterated the importance of the construction of the Hermitage for the residents of Los Olmos and Torre Pacheco.
