The motion, which included contributions in the form of amendments from the Popular Group and Citizens, also resolved that the necessary procedures for the completion of the works be initiated parallel to this table, and that the Autonomous Community assume the management of the project. Museum.

In 2006, the Regional Government granted a subsidy to the Torre Pacheco City Council for the construction of this building, destined to be a benchmark for Paleontology in Southern Europe, due to the importance of the Neanderthal remains found in the Sima de las Doves of the Cabezo Gordo.

With an amount of 8 million euros, the works were stopped in 2013, due to lack of funds, and last August of 2017 the City Council got an agreement with the company responsible for the execution of the works, INTERSA, the friendly liquidation of the contract against the claims of the company, which required more than 1.5 million euros in compensation.

The Mayor of Torre Pacheco was "satisfied with the agreement reached in the Regional Assembly by all political groups."
