Ethno-Cultural Conferences: Enhancement of an inherited heritage (11/05/2018)

The mayor of Torre Pacheco, Antonio León accompanied by the president of the Roldán Neighborhood Association, Antonio Cañavate, and the president of the Civic Cultural Association of Roldán, José Martínez, presented the second Ethnocultural Conference, which seeks to make visible the inherited cultural, historical and ethnographic heritage.

The Councilor for Culture, Raúl Lledó, the Councilor of Celebrations, Yolanda Castaño, and the Mayor of Roldán, Manuel Morodo, have also been present at the presentation, together with members of the Municipal Corporation.

Next Saturday, May 19, the second edition of the "ETNOCULTURAL CONFERENCES: SETTING THE VALUE OF A HEREDATE HERITAGE" will be held on the initiative of the University of Alicante, through the Archbishop Loazes Chair, and will take place in the House of the Labrador de Roldán.

Coordinated by the Department of Culture and supported by the City Council of Torre Pacheco, the Chair Archbishop Loazes of the University of Alicante and the University of Murcia, also collaborate the Civic-Cultural Association of Roldán.

Some conferences that seek the recovery, conservation, protection and enhancement of those elements of rural heritage that are subject to risk of disappearance, destruction or alteration of their values, in order to highlight the historical, cultural and ethnographic value of the goods members of the popular culture of the region of Campo de Cartagena, in which the municipality of Torre Pacheco is located.

It is intended to promote the disclosure of heritage and enhance the informative task of the importance of protecting, recovering and enhancing a rich and varied heritage linked to the municipality of Torre Pacheco and, undoubtedly, is its hallmark and inheritance from its most remote past.

The framework of these conferences will be the Casa del Labrador de Roldán, which houses a wide and varied collection of traditional tools, implements, tools, farming implements, as well as furniture and typical furniture from a typical house in the Campo de Cartagena, from donations that have been collected in recent years.

A Heritage that reflects the agricultural and livestock activities as main axes of the traditional economy of our area;

very particular customs and uses that made up the life of our ancestors and that constitutes a way of recovering lost traditions.

This is a conference in which it is intended to combine the academic side, through the various conferences and issues that will be raised by university experts and scholars in the field as heritage technicians, with a profile more accessible to the public in general, through parallel activities.

The conferences that will take place on Saturday bring together well-known specialists in the study of tangible and intangible heritage with the aim of promoting the dissemination of the rich heritage of the Campo de Cartagena region, and more specifically of Torre Pacheco, and thus encourage the population on the importance of protecting, recovering and enhancing, as well as disseminating, such a rich and varied heritage linked to the municipality of Torre Pacheco and that undoubtedly highlights its identity and its past.

Attendance at the Conferences and their activities is open, free and without prior registration, and is part of the commemoration of the European Year of Cultural Heritage.

Parallel to the Conference will be carried out a series of activities such as threshing exhibitions, craft market and concentration of old vehicles.
