Three women give their name to a street in Torre-Pacheco (08/03/2013)

This initiative called "Three Women, Three streets" is framed in the programming of activities marking the International Women's Day and is intended to honor three women, who by his personal or professional, have highlighted or emphasized particularly in its contribution to development and progress of our town.

To this end, we assigned to different groups of women in Torre-Pacheco's work to propose three names to the City Council for subsequent appointment of the street.

The three most voted were:

- Dolores Garcia Garre, who was the first councilor who was part of the government team of democracy in Torre-Pacheco, named in session April 19, 1979 and was mayor Pedro Jiménez Ruiz.

The councilor was part of the Committee on Culture, Sports, Tourism, Health and Social Welfare and opted for a cultural policy, which was imposed as necessary throughout the municipality.

- Maria Luisa Garcia Meroño, renowned entrepreneur and first pharmaceutical Torre-Pacheco.

After graduating from pharmacy in Granada, was devoted to teaching for several years in the IES Luis Manzanares (formerly Isaac Peral).
