Presentation consumption activities Torre-Pacheco 2011 (15/03/2011)

The Mayor of Torre Pacheco, Daniel García Madrid, next to the Director General of Citizen Services, Addictions and Consumption, Juan Manuel Ruiz Ros, presented the program consumption activities 2011, all the activities that the Municipal Information Office Consumer held throughout the year 2011.

The OMIC began providing its services to the public in 2000, through agreements that are set annually between the city of Torre-Pacheco and the Department of Consumer Affairs.

The Office of Consumer Affairs offers a permanent year-round, attending in person or by telephone users and neighbors on the following topics:

- Service information, support and customer orientation, as well as businesses and shops.

- Mediation and consumer complaint handling and the processing of applications for consumer arbitration.

On this last point, it is noteworthy that also performed procedures for consumer arbitration hearings via video conferencing, avoiding travel outside the municipality of consumers and businesses

Also from the OMIC perform other specific activities, which are displayed in the Program of Activities for 2010 consumption.

These activities and services can be summarized into three main sections:

- Carrying out awareness campaigns on consumer rights and information on consumer issues.

- Carrying out training of consumers.

- Conducting education activities in schools in the municipality.

The OMIC Torre-Pacheco received in 2010 379 complaints.

Addressed to 540 users with general questions about consumption (49% problems with telephone, supplies 18%, 10% housing, financial and insurance 15%, 8% other claims.

The activities and services that have been presented this morning focus on consumer information, but there are actions aimed at the information to companies and businesses.

These informational activities and information campaigns are carried out using various means, such as municipal radio Torre-Pacheco, leaflets, information points, guided individualized ...

It could highlight the following information campaigns, rebates, consumer orange pages, OMIC information campaign and consumer rights, special information campaign for Christmas and the campaign to companies and businesses for joining the system consumer arbitration.
