The Councilor of Services and Public Road Mª Carmen Guillén, accompanied by the pedáneo de Roldán, Manuel Pérez, has visited the Plaza de los Cachimanes, in Roldán, where they have carried out various repair and refurbishment work, by City Council staff .
As reported by the Councilor, the work carried out consisted, at first, in the withdrawal of the fountain that was in the center of the square, request made and very demanded by the neighbors, since it did not work and also, in The last months had been vandalized;
"With this withdrawal from the source, more space has been achieved, giving more space to the central area of ​​the square," said Guillén.
Among the work done, is also the improvement of accessibility to the square, as previously to access it the neighbors had to go through a parterre of land, solving it when removing these parterres, and equaling the existing unevenness of 2 meters of land making access safer for neighbors.
Likewise, the entire area of ​​flower beds has been fixed, removing the existing gravel and placing an anti-weed mesh, and filling them with colored gravel, which has improved the image of the square.
In addition, new trees have been planted, at the request of the neighbors, a total of 6 mulberry trees and has been placed in the children's area, leaving the plaza with a larger, more accessible and functional image.
"The improvement has been remarkable, and this is what the neighbors have told us," Guillén pointed out.
Likewise, the peddler of Roldan, wanted to thank the City Council for the effort made to adapt the square, transferring the request of the residents of Los Cachimanes to expand the neighborhood center that is located in the remodeled plaza.
