"Four colleagues and a camera" (13/07/2017)

"Four colleagues and a camera", Carlos Ballesteros defines the best way to make films, and this is the same with which he has directed his first short film;

Operation Number 13, a comedy that provokes the reflection on the part of the spectator, in this case, for the more mature public, and that premiered in Dolores de Pacheco, its native town.

9 minutes that raised the applause of a public entregadísimo, that enjoyed with this project, "Operation Number 13", being realized after the projection a meeting between the director and the spectators.

"Operation Number 13, for me, is my first audiovisual project made from the chair, since my priority has always been the interpretation, but my multi-faceted concerns have never stopped growing," says Ballesteros.

The short film is about a somewhat peculiar character, Javier, a man of "almost" forty years, who suffers triscaidecaphobia, a strange fear or fear of bad luck and, above all, the number thirteen.

This short film, which begins in the cinema as a novel director, Carlos Ballesteros comes following a reflection, What are we?

And What objectives do we have?

According to Ballesteros, the main idea was gradually deteriorating until achieving the definitive result.

Many people just ask, and why this subject and that way of narrating it?

The first question is not so technical, the author had always wondered about fate and why things, this being the motive that pushed him to talk about a subject as reflective as this.

In this way, "my team and I have finished a story that both encourages the entertainment of all audiences and also provokes reflection for the most curious. The ideas or secondary plots that are also reflected in the film is the folly, ignorance And innocence of some people in the execution of a decision, "according to Carlos.

The project was worked from a very low budget, but sufficient to cover specific expenses such as food or displacement.

The positive thing about working in these conditions, according to Ballesteros, is not the economic benefit but spiritual, working in a totally comfortable environment, with colleagues with whom you would work again and again.

A work that is very noticeable in the result, and this result, despite the great level developed and the record that the short film is giving place, there is always that feeling of insufficiency and ambition, says Carlos.

"As far as my point of view of the cinema, I think that the seventh art is being represented hidden by the clutch of the capitalism, that is to say, for many cinematographic companies the important thing is the money, and for that reason triathletes the superproducciones of the actuality They are not interested in losing a four-day audience at the premiere, their priority is to recover and earn money. For that same reason I defend the independent cinema and the cult, where the feelings and feelings are truly expressed. Emotions of the author, "reflects Ballesteros.

Carlos Ballesteros, despite his youth, has always defended the world of the short film of the undervaluations of the majority of the public.

The short film has much merit, and sometimes more than a long, because without just means and in less time you must convey a message to the viewer.

With this, Ballesteros points out that art of truth is not done with money, but with desire, creativity and a group of colleagues like you.

Among the future claims of Carlos and his team is working through Trend Film, a kind of youth production, which they want to become a non-profit producer, in order to be able to develop art, either by drawing from Short film or other type of product.

Always open to new adventures.
