Torre-Pacheco celebrates the Day of the Book: wall of books, storytelling and recital of poetry (24/04/2017)

Last weekend Torre-Pacheco celebrated Book Day with several activities for the whole family.

On Saturday took place "A world without walls, better a path of books" in the Municipal Market of Torre-Pacheco, from eleven in the morning to one in the afternoon.

The idea behind this event is that culture and education make us freer and break down barriers.

It consisted in erecting a wall of books as a symbolic act and the neighbors of Torre-Pacheco were asked to help bring it down, taking one book each.

At the end they pushed the wall and knocked it down, so that the attendants could take the book they wanted, even if it was at the base of the wall.

On Sunday, the little ones enjoyed an account in English of "El Sastrecillo Valiente" in the reading park of the Public Library of Torre-Pacheco at eleven in the morning.

A hundred or so people were enveloped by the wonderful storytelling of Eva Mataix, who interacted with the children and made the activity dynamic and participatory.

Also it was didactic, since it taught cards with drawings and words in English, so that the children were not lost in history.

At the same time, another account was held in English at the Miguel Hernández de Roldán Public Library.

Although this time the participants heard a narration of "The Cat in Boots" at the hands of Eva Torres.

Also on Sunday was "Poetry in the street: Torre-Pacheco verse to verse", where two actors dramatized poems on Calle Mayor.

The repertoire of poems was very varied and counted on poets like Miguel Hernández, Antonio Machado and Gloria Fuertes.

At first, poems focused on children and, later on, adults were recited.

Very excited, when they knew the poem, the attendants were encouraged to participate and recite all at once, and even a woman in the audience recited a poem of their harvest.

The recital began at one in the afternoon and lasted an hour.

During this week many events are celebrated in commemoration of the Day of the Book: Monday, April 24, the novel "El Domador de nubes" by Pilar Hernández Senac is presented at the Municipal Public Library of Torre-Pacheco at six in the afternoon.

On Tuesday, April 25th, "The Circle of Tales: the pleasure of sharing stories", an intergenerational meeting of the Children's Reading Clubs, adults and seniors of the Municipal Public Library of Torre-Pacheco, at five-thirty the afternoon.

The following day, on Wednesday, April 26th, the Poetry and Music Recital "Aqui paz y Gloria" will be held. Homage to Gloria Fuertes, reciting students from the Theater Workshop of the Ntra. Sra. Del Rosario Torre-Pacheco Theater Cultural Association , With music performed by young people from the Musical Union of Torre-Pacheco.

It will be at seven in the afternoon and also in the Library.

While on Saturday April 29 there is a camp in the Library for the little ones to discover the corners of their library at the time it closes its doors to the public.

It starts at seven o'clock in the afternoon, there are play activities and the children have dinner, they spend the night, and the next day, Sunday, they have breakfast and they leave at ten in the morning.

The Book Day activities campaign organized by the Torre-Pacheco City Council forms a catalog of varied events that run until May 8.
