Torre-Pacheco Child Friendly City celebrates the Municipal Council of Children and Adolescents (17/06/2016)

This Council was established on 17 November 2014 and is part of the program promoted by UNICEF "Child Friendly Cities", which the City of Torre-Pacheco is a part.

The Council is an advisory body representing a channel of participation for children and young people living in our town, express their demands, proposals and views on various issues and areas that affect their daily lives, such as education, culture, sport, environment, and public safety, among others.

The Council is chaired by the Mayor of Torre Pacheco, Antonio León, being secretary a Municipal Technical, Pedro Cesar Hernandez, and counselors are students of 5th and 6th Eduacción Primary and 1st and 2nd of ESO of all Educational Centers Municipality.

Currently the directors are: Maria Jose Fernandez, Patricia Campillo, Maria Fernandez Henarejos Monica Vivancos, Lucia Maria Fernandez, Michael Martinez, Yared Perea, Natalia Fuentes, Andrea Olmos, Pedro Ruiz, Rocío García, María José Alcaraz, Francisco Egea, Ana Maria Almohaya, Prudencio Lopez, Roberto Ros, Lucía Pérez, María Abellán, Lucia Navarro, José María Justice, Alba Muñoz, Maria Dolores Fernandez, Pedro Toral, Sara Escudero, Noelia Valarezo, Maria Gomez and Francisco Gomez.

The Board was elected for the next year as President to the student of IES Gerardo Molina, Patricia Campillo and as Vice-President Garre student Alpañez CEIP Alba Muñoz.

The Department of Education, Sports and Urban led the Council responses to the proposals and demands made in previous plenary sessions around these areas, giving a reasoned reply to each response.

The central theme was the Council Public Safety and Traffic, being approved the following proposals: Improvement, use and expansion of bike lanes;

increased police surveillance;

demand for more training and public awareness activities;

pedestrianization, especially on streets with access to schools;

improving traffic signs and lighting;

Roundabout construction in conflicting crossings;

reducing speed of vehicles in the city.

The Councillor for Citizen Security, Juan Salvador Sanchez, who attended the ceremony took note of all proposals, and pledged to work on the proposals of the directors.

Finally the Directors elected by majority New Technologies theme to be discussed at the Education Centers in the first quarter of next year.

Councillor of Social Services and Equality, Veronica Martinez, wanted to thank the Directors their work throughout the year to convey the concerns and worries of our children and youth, being the communication link between students and the City, a very important work from the Department of Social Services it aims to promote and prioritize.
