More than 600 people have received aid from the City Council in the first 15 days of the Alarm State (07/04/2020)

The councilor for Social Services, Immigration and Health of the Torre Pacheco City Council, María José López, has reported on Social Emergency benefits during the first 15 days of the State of Alarm in the municipality of Torre Pacheco.

In addition to thanking volunteers, and all those who are helping and collaborating, so that this period is as bearable as possible for the most vulnerable people who are in their homes;

thanking the neighbors for respecting the rules, and also having words of appreciation for police, health, civil guard, staff who work in centers, as well as people who continue their work at this time;

He has also thanked in a special way the Civil Protection whose work is essential and essential at the moment, and the volunteers of the Koryo Club, an essential pillar in the work that the Department of Social Services is currently doing.

The councilor has highlighted the work of the Associations that are working transversally with Social Services, such as the Red Cross and Cáritas, pointing out the work of the Rotary Club and AFAL Cartagena y Comarca.

In addition to highlighting the work of Social Services professionals.

María José López, reported that the State of Alarm has had a significant economic impact on the most vulnerable families, to which must be added the population has lost their jobs and those who have seen their work activity paralyzed, which has caused a loss of income that makes it difficult to cover basic needs during this period of confinement.

So from the Department of Social Services, extraordinary measures have been implemented in order to alleviate and cushion the negative effect that this situation is causing on the most vulnerable population.

Noting that this situation of confinement has forced to reorganize the service in a non-face-to-face way while the state of alarm lasts, adapting to new situations.

The Councilor for Social Services has reported that during the first two weeks of the State of Alarm 291 aid have been processed, of which 122 have been for food of basic necessity, 65 of these aid have been destined to people or families due to mobility problems or health that could not leave their homes, cases in which the purchase has been taken directly, the rest have been given vouchers, the amount of which varies according to the members of the family unit.

In addition, the City Council has transferred to the Educational Centers the amount of the dining room scholarships, for the minor beneficiaries, so that they can be transferred to the families.

The City Council has also processed the discharge of the water supply to those vulnerable families who lacked this service in their homes.

Finally, the extension of previous aid to 14 families at risk has been managed.

In total, 617 people from the municipality of Torre Pacheco, 252 adults and 365 minors, have benefited from Social Emergency Benefits during the first 15 days of the State of Alarm.
