The Councilor for Finance and European Projects, Carlos López, participates today in Madrid in the "Present and Future of the Urban Hub" Conference, organized by the Ministry of Finance and the European Commission.
The aim of these conferences is, on the one hand, to monitor the indicators and objectives of the integrated sustainable urban development strategies, as well as to learn from the management of other good practices in the field of European project management.
The Councilman participates in a workshop under the title "Future: The Spanish Urban Agenda", which will show the lines of the new international, European and Spanish urban agenda, with special attention to some Spanish cities that have already reproduced successful experiences .
At the same participate as technical speakers of UN-Habitat, the European Commission, the General Directorate of European Funds, and various Spanish municipalities.
Torre Pacheco was selected last 2018, in the last call, with an allocation of 2.3 million euros from the European Commission to launch the project "Torre Pacheco, Land of Contrasts" of urban regeneration in the neighborhoods of San Juan and San Antonio, with the aim of improving its urban development and promoting the cohesion of the entire urban nucleus.
The City Council will provide up to 600,000 euros more, bringing the total investment to 2.9 million euros.
During the last 6 months the City Council has worked on the part of previous analysis, creation of procedures, control mechanisms, with the aim of beginning the actions at the end of 2019. The execution will begin after the summer season.
