"The City Council ends 2018 with a surplus of 4.1 million euros and proposes an Economic Plan to continue reducing debt." (16/04/2019)

The City Council of Torre Pacheco will debate on Tuesday the Plenary an Economic Plan with the aim of formalizing concrete savings measures in non-financial jobs, for the 2019-2020 financial years, opening the door to advance the end of the Adjustment Plan in two years.

According to the forecasts of the Department of Finance, the rate of reduction of financial debt, added to the measures of tax inspection and control and cost savings contained in the Plan, could lead to the reduction of the financial debt that the City has contracted with the banking entities thus advancing the end of the Adjustment Plan, foreseen for December 2023, to the last quarter of 2020.

The City Council of Torre Pacheco ended 2018, according to the settlement data sent to the Ministry of Finance, with a surplus of 4.1 million euros, and a net saving of 10.1 million euros, 5.3 million more than saving registered in 2017 and 7.8 million higher than in 2016.

The Councilor of Finance highlighted the good performance of public accounts, motivated by the increase in net revenue and liquid income of the City Council, as well as by the greater share of participation in state taxes.

Similarly, the Councilman demanded, in line with what has been done by the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces, a modification of the rules governing the Rule of Expenditure, whose work is already initiated in a joint table Ministry-FEMP, which harmonize our standard with European standards.

"The City Councils must spend with restraint," Lopez declared, "although the legislator must opt for a modification of the calculation rules of the expenditure rule that favors the increase of social items and financially sustainable investments."

López highlighted the strength of public accounts and the "tranquility of having a financially healthy City Hall, with a surplus, with a financing capacity of more than 5 million euros, and paying suppliers in 20 days."
